Marble can lose its shine due to general wear and tear, or spills. Because marble is easily stained, you should blot up any stain as soon as it occurs with a soft cloth so that you will not etch the finish. Without proper maintenance of your counter top or floor, it can degrade over time. Follow a strict cleaning routine, because dirt and dust act as sandpaper against the marble surface. Restore your marble finish to get that shine back on your stone.     

Firstly, sweep your marble flooring with a broom. Dilute the marble cleaner with a gallon of water according to the directions. Avoid mixing in too much cleaner, because it can harm the stone.Secondly, clean the surface with a mop, using the cleaning mixture. Rinse the cleaning mixture with plain water and allow the surface to dry before walking on it.Thirdly, apply an etch remover to restore any scratches on the marble tile . Use a soft towel to apply the etch remover in a circular motion.Fourthly, wipe the counter tops with a paper towel or soft cloth to remove dust and debris. Mix the marble cleaner with water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray the counter top with the cleaning solution.Fifthly, wipe the cleaning product off with a soft towel. Buff the counter top with a white towel to prevent streaking.Sixthly, use an etch remover to remove all scratches and to polish the marble countertop . Allow the counter top to dry before using.

Avoid using cleaning products that contain such acids as vinegar or lemon, because these will harm the finish.
